McLeod County and your 2nd Amendment Rights

Passing on a message from McLeod County Sheriff Scott Rehmann. If this is something that you feel strongly about, please consider attending.

On Tuesday, May 7, at 930 or there after, Commissioner Jon Christensen will be introducing a resolution in support of our 2nd Amendment rights. The resolutions states that McLeod County nullifes any federal law that violates the 2nd Amendmant as written and understood by our founding fathers. It furthers requests that our state legislators enact a law that supports our rights under the 2nd Amendment. I understand that many of you have jobs but if you are able to attend and perhaps speak to the issue I would be grateful. McLeod county will be the first in MN to pass such a resolution and I feel it will be important to show our support to the commissioners. If you can attend please be there by 9:30 am in the commissioners room in the basement of the courthouse. Please feel free to pass this on to others that would be interested in attending. With the current talk of starting the gun control debate again after it failed at the state and federal level, I feel it is important to starting pushing back.

Good News!

We received a slight reprieve in our property tax increase this year. As a result, we won’t have to raise prices quite as much as we first thought. We’re currently looking at a .50 / round increase overall instead of a $1 / round increase.

Hope you can join us on 4/10 for our season opener practice shooting night. League begins on 4/17.

Practice shooters are ALWAYS welcome! There is no commitment necessary, simply come out and shoot a round or two whenever you’d like.

Firearms safety training

The LPSC is again hosting a firearms safety course this year. It will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning April 2nd. This training is available to persons 11 years of age and older.

Price Increase for 2013.

Due to an 83% increase in our property taxes for 2013, and also significant increases in insurance premiums, we have been forced to raise shooting prices for 2013.

This year’s prices are as follows:

League $8.00

Practice $7.00

Lewis $7.50

The league team registration fee remains at $40/year per team. This fee includes memberships for the first five primary shooters. Subs may purchase memberships for $5/person if they desire.

We sincerely apologize for having to raise prices this year. We have been able to absorb many of the increases in fixed costs that we have seen over the past several years, but this tax increase was just too much to bear. We are not alone: The other sportsmen’s clubs in McLeod County received similar notices. We are working with these other clubs to see if we can work out a better solution for next year. Thank you for your understanding.

Shooting begins on Wednesday, April 10th with practice shooting. League shooting will begin on 4/17.

Makeup for rain-out week.

Instead of extending the league season by one week to make up for last week’s rain-out, we will instead make up the shooting by having each team shoot twice over the next two weeks. All yardages will remain the same until everyone is caught up. Hopefully, we can get about half the teams to shoot the make-up round this week and the other half can make it up next week.

It is raining heavily and lightning in Lester Prairie at this time and radar doesn’t look very promising for the next few hours. As a result, we are cancelling shooting for tonight.

The league season will be extended by one week at the end of the season.
